Bills TE Scott Chandler will play vs. Vikings, Doug Marrone says

The veteran tight end will see some action on Friday against Minnesota.

Buffalo Bills tight end Scott Chandler will suit up on Friday night against the Minnesota Vikings, according to the team's official web site.

Chandler didn't play in the Bills' first preseason game versus the Indianapolis Colts as a precautionary measure after having ACL reconstruction eight months ago. Chandler won't play a ton in his first action of 2013, but he will certainly get on the field says head coach Doug Marrone. Per the piece:

“I believe Scott Chandler will get some reps barring anything happening between now and (Friday night),” said Marrone. “So you’ll see him in there.”

Last season, Chandler was highly effective for Buffalo with 43 catches for 571 yards, both career highs. The 6'7', 260-pound native of Texas has also caught six touchdown passes in each of the past two years, proving a very large and reliable red zone target for E.J. Manuel/Kevin Kolb.

Chandler is unquestionably the best tight end on Buffalo's roster with no proven backup on the team. Chris Gragg, Nick Provo and Lee Smith are the other players at the position.
