Ronald Leary injury: Cowboys G to have knee surgery Friday

Another injury to the offensive line hurts Dallas’ depth even further.

Jayne Kamin-Oncea-US PRESSWIRE

Dallas Cowboys guard Ronald Leary will be sidelined for the rest of the preseason and perhaps into the regular season because he's in need of arthroscopic knee surgery, according to the team's official website. In his second season as a pro, Leary had been running with the starters as a guard this camp.

Dallas has been crushed by injuries at the guard position, forcing them to look at retired players such as Brandon Moore to come in and provide stability. Moore was actually signed to a one-year deal by the Cowboys before deciding at the last minute not to un-retire. Dallas has also courted Brian Waters, who didn't play last year, but it has had no luck.

The two projected starters at guard going into the year were Mackenzy Bernadeau and Nate Livings. Bernadeau had been sidelined following offseason shoulder surgery but is now healthy. Livings needed knee surgery in early August and won't return before September at the earliest.
