Packers vs. Rams results: Green Bay wins uneventful game, 19-7

The Green Bay Packers bested the St. Louis Rams on Saturday, winning a rudimentary 19-7 game.

The Green Bay Packers bested the St. Louis Rams in preseason action on Saturday, winning 19-7 in a quiet game. Green Bay got a good look at kickers Mason Crosby and Giorgio Tavecchio, who are competing for the starting place kicker job this season.

Crosby performed better, making all three of his field goal attempts (from 30, 34 and 48 yards), while Tavecchio made one 38-yard field goal and missed another.

Rams quarterback Sam Bradford played well, completing 8 of 12 passes for 155 yards and no interceptions, but he also didn't manage a touchdown, either. His backup, Kellen Clemens, played poorly, competing just 2 of 11 passes for 27 yards with a pair of interceptions.

The first touchdown of the game came when Andy Mulumba caught a 9-yard pass from Green Bay quarterback B.J. Coleman in the fourth quarter. The Rams avoided a shutout when Nick Johnson hauled in a 26-yard pass from Austin Davis with under two minutes to play.

Aaron Rodgers was Aaron Rodgers, completing 10 of 12 passes for 134 yards. The big story for the Packers was rookie running back Eddie Lacy, who finally got some paying time and carried the ball eight times for 40 yards. Lacy is expected to earn the starting role or at least significant playing time this year, but has been banged up in practice.

Did they cover?

The line opened at even money, but the Rams became favored by as much as four points as the week went on. That certainly did not happen.

What’s next?

The Rams hit the road to take on the Denver Broncos on Aug. 24. The Packers return home to take on the Seattle Seahawks on Aug. 23.
