Dolphins vs. Texans results: Houston wins second straight, Miami loses Keller

Case Keenum and T.J. Yates both looked effective Saturday as they jockey for the Texans No.2 quarterback role.

The Texans improved to 2-0 in the preseason as Matt Schaub, Case Keenum and T.J. Yates all tossed a touchdown to lead Houston to a 24-17 win over the Miami Dolphins.

Schaub struggled to start the game, throwing an interception in the first series and taking a sack on third down in the second series. The starter got the offense moving on the third series, finding a wide open Owen Daniels in the end zone for a 15-yard touchdown.

Ryan Tannehill turned in an impressive performance, throwing for 141 yards and a touchdown before being removed for Matt Moore in the second quarter. Tannehill tossed a nine-yard touchdown to Mike Wallace in the first, and led a second touchdown drive in the second that ended in a Lamar Miller four-yard touchdown run.

Keenum looked effective with the Texans No. 2 offense, completing 11 of 18 passes for 150 yards and a touchdown. T.J. Yates also had a strong performance, going 7-for-9 for 84 yards and a score.

Injury Report

Dolphins tight end Dustin Keller sustained what appeared to be a serious knee injury and had to be carted off the field. Texans first-round pick receiver DeAndre Hopkins was also injured, leaving the game in the second quarter with a head injury.

Did they cover?

Houston entered the game as 3 1/2 point favorites over Miami, covering the spread.

What’s next?

The Dolphins will play at home against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers Aug. 24, while the Texans will host the New Orleans Saints Aug. 25.
