Kendall Wright injury: Titans believe WR has sprain, not ACL tear

Initial reports indicate that the second-year receiver has not suffered a debilitating ACL injury, though no formal announcement has been made.

Tennessee Titans wide receiver Kendall Wright has suffered a sprained right knee, but initial reports indicate he did not tear his ACL, according to Jim Wyatt, Titans beat writer for The Tennessean:

Wright suffered the injury during the Titans’ preseason loss to Cincinnati Saturday night. Wright’s foot was caught in the turf as he was tackled in the first half. Wright limped to the sideline on his own power, but was eventually carted to the locker room for x-rays and an MRI exam. There has been no official announcement on the outcome of that MRI.

Wright was Tennessee’s first round draft pick in 2012 out of Baylor. The former first team All-American caught 64 passes for 626 yards and four touchdowns as a freshman. He is listed as the Titans’ third wide receiver on their 2013 depth chart.

Tennessee fell to 0-2 on the preseason with a 27-19 loss Saturday. The Titans return to action against Atlanta next Saturday.
