Cowboys vs. Cardinals: Cardinals fans react to ugly win

The Cardinals beat the Cowboys despite failing to take full advantage of a handful of turnovers. See how our local bloggers reacted to the preseason tilt.

The Arizona Cardinals defeated the Dallas Cowboys, 12-7, in Saturday afternoon preseason action. The Cowboys committed five turnovers in the first half alone, but the Cardinals never quite took advantage and the game remained in doubt until the end. Gavin Escobar ended up scoring the only touchdown of the game in the fourth quarter.

Cardinals blog Revenge Of The Birds was happy with the win, of course, but they were less happy with the erratic play of quarterback Carson Palmer:

Carson Palmer struggled against the Cowboys Tampa 2 completing only 7 of 15 passes for 66 yards and was unable to lead the team to any touchdowns despite being in the red zone several times. He did connect with Larry Fitzgerald three times for 44 yards, a very encouraging sign after last season. Despite the lack of red zone productions there are still things to be happy about for Cardinals fans. Rashard Mendenhall was able to generate 32 yards on 7 carries and the starting offensive line gave up zero sacks and only a handful of pressures, something every Cardinal fan should be happy to see.

KD Drummond at Blogging The Boys is pleasantly surprised that the Cowboys gave up only three field goals despite the turnovers and ugly play:

The Cowboys entered their contest against the Cardinals with one important edict: leave it whole and get back to Dallas. They did just that and on the way, collected their second loss of the preseason, 12-7.

Apparently players’ attentions were already back in Dallas and were just waiting for their bodies to join them following the third preseason tilt. How a team is fortunate enough to escape a five-turnover half and only allow three field goals is beyond me, but somehow the mistake-prone Cowboys pulled it off in the desert.
