Packers vs. Rams: Packers and Rams fans react to preseason game

The Packers beat the Rams in Saturday night preseason action. See how our local bloggers reacted to the game.

Jeff Curry-USA TODAY Sports

The Green Bay Packers defeated the St. Louis Rams, 19-7, in the second preseason game of the year. Several players who were inactive last week came back and had impressive performances on display, as the Packers wore down a Rams team that looked less than inspired.

Jason Hirschhorn of Acme Packing Company highlighted rookie running back Eddie Lacy as one of his "winners." Lacy made his preseason debut and looked like an every-down back:

There was perhaps no more anticipated rookie debut in all the NFL this week than that of Eddie Lacy, and the Packers’ running back did not disappoint. From the very first play his signature spin move and tackle breaking ability was on display. That first drive saw several powerful runs, including a 3rd and 1 conversion that would have counted had it not been for an unnecessary hold by Jermichael Finley. His best moment came in the second quarter when Lacy turned a check down reception into a first down via spinning away from a would-be Rams’ tackler. In total, Lacy finished with 40 yards on eight carries.

Rams fans were less than pleased with their team’s flat performance. Brandon Birkhead of Turf Show Times had some positive things to take away, but overall was not impressed with the Rams’ “slow, sluggish” play:

Sam Bradford looked good. The only blemishes were a bad throw to Tavon Austin that should have been an easy TD, and a fumbled snap on 4th and goal. Other than that, Bradford looks solid. He hit Chris Givens for another perfect deep ball this week.

Isaiah Pead got the start, and he played better than last week. The run blocking didn't do him any favors, so his stats weren't impressive, but he carried the ball with more confidence. He also did very well in pass protection. He may end up as the Rams 3rd down RB.

Penalties. The Rams had way to many. Fix this guys.

Tackling was bad. I think this will be a constant theme for the rest of the pre-season.

Thank God the Rams scored. I couldn't take all the articles about how the Rams were shutout.
