Broncos vs. Seahawks: Blogger reactions to blowout preseason win

The Seahawks routed the Broncos in their preseason home game on Saturday. See what our bloggers had to say about the game.

Steven Bisig-USA TODAY Sports

The Seattle Seahawks defeated the Denver Broncos, 40-10, in their second preseason game of the year. Both teams played their starters for the majority of the first half, and the game almost had a playoff atmosphere despite not counting in the standings.

Jacson Bevens of Field Gulls had plenty of positive things to say about the game. He chose to highlight receiver Jermaine Kearse and rookie fullback Spencer Ware:

~Jermaine (LASI)Kearse has active-roster-paycheck dreams. The University of Washington standout with great acceleration and hands as soft as waffle irons not only caught the first touchdown of the game, he housed a 107-yard kickoff return.* There may not be an extremely high ceiling for a non-Harvin Seahawks WR corps, but there is an extremely high floor. Someone very good is gonna get cut from that position group.

~Ware, a sixth round pick, carried the football nine times for 54 yards and added two catches for 26. One of the elephants in the Seahawks' room is what to do with incumbent Pro Bowl fullback Michael Robinson, who is due $2.5M this year (w/ zero "dead money" if cut, per Davis Hsu). Robinson, who Lynch has repeatedly referred to as his "eyes", is an incredibly effective lead blocker and his football acumen has earned him the respect of his lockerroom. Spencer Ware may not be any of those things but he's a got a get-up-and-wiggle that Mike Rob just don't.

The Broncos had a scary moment when defensive end Derek Wolfe was taken off the field in an ambulance, but nearly all tests came back negative and he traveled home with the team. Mile High Report says that Peyton Manning looked like his usual self, but the wheels came off when Brock Osweiler took over the offense:

Brock Osweiler seems to have fallen back to earth and landed with a huge THUD! It’s either a case of “take 1 step forward and 2 steps back”, or Seattle’s D (including backups) are ridiculously good. Either way, the Brock Watch isn’t looking good after this latest game.

Either the refs or Alex Gibbs needs to get their act together because either Gibbs isn’t teaching any lineman how to line up legally, or the refs have bigger homer glasses on than I do. I think it might be the latter, because we all know that Gibbs demands perfection and knows what he’s doing.

Speaking of the refs... this crew needs to never work a professional game again. They made Helen Keller look like she had 20/20 vision!

Outside of that, it was just a late and sloppy game. Get healthy Wolfe and Champ, we need you guys!
