Victor Cruz injury: Giants WR suffers bruised heel, X-rays negative

After getting Hakeem Nicks back, the Giants lost Victor Cruz on Sunday, but they don’t know yet for how long.

New York Giants wide receiver Victor Cruz left the team's preseason game against the Indianapolis Colts on Sunday with a foot injury.

Cruz immediately went to the locker room for X-rays after the injury. Before exiting the game, Cruz did not have a single catch.

The Giants got wide receiver Hakeem Nicks back from injury on Sunday but the two stars can't seem to stay on the field together. Cruz signed a six-year contract extension during the offseason after two standout years in New York.

At this point, the Giants will be waiting for the results of the X-rays. Cruz has been durable throughout his three-year career, catching over 80 passes the past two seasons.

UPDATE: The X-rays on Cruz’ foot were negative. He has a bruised heel, so the Giants appear to have dodged a bullet.
