Delanie Walker injury: Titans activate TE from PUP list

Delanie Walker is back in practice for the Titans after missing all of training camp thus far recovering from a knee scope.

Ed Szczepanski-US PRESSWIRE

Delanie Walker is no longer on the physically unable to perform list, and can finally begin practicing with the Tennessee Titans, NFL.com's Ian Rapoport reported Monday. Walker had his knee scoped and was placed on the PUP list just before the start of training camp, and has had to sit since.

Walker was signed by the Titans in March to counteract the loss of Jared Cook to the St. Louis Rams. Walker has played all of his seven career seasons with the San Francisco 49ers, though he has yet to catch more than 29 passes in a season. Last year, he had a relatively pedestrian 21 receptions, but his 344 yards receiving were a career high. Walker found the end zone three times in 16 games played.

While Walker's numbers in San Francisco weren't eye-popping, he also competed for attention with the uber-athletic Vernon Davis during his entire tenure. In Tennessee, he should have better chance to shine. The team retained sixth-year tight end Craig Stevens, who had 23 receptions for 275 yards and one touchdown in 2012.

The Titans will play their Week 3 preseason game on Saturday, Aug. 24, against the Atlanta Falcons. There is no word yet whether Walker will play.
