Coby Fleener injury: MRI results negative for Colts tight end

Coby Fleener should be ready to return for the Colts in a few days after an MRI on his knee came back negative.

Brian Spurlock-USA TODAY Sports

An MRI on Coby Fleener's sprained knee came back negative, Indianapolis Colts head coach Chuck Pagano told Mike Wells of ESPN.com. The second-year tight end will reportedly miss just a few days for the Colts. Fleener injured his knee during Sunday night's preseason win over the New York Giants.

Fleener also suffered a concussion earlier in training camp, but was able to bounce back to play against the Giants. There is no word yet on his status for Week 3 of the preseason. How much practice time he is able to receive beforehand will likely determine whether Fleener can play against the Cleveland Browns on Saturday.

Fleener also dealt with shoulder problems as a rookie last season, and missed four games. He finished the year with 26 receptions for 281 yards and two touchdowns.

Fellow 2012 rookie tight end and teammate Dwayne Allen had 45 receptions for 521 yards and three touchdowns, though he is currently dealing with his own injury problems at the moment. Allen has been dealing with a foot injury, and finally stepped out of a walking boot over the weekend.
