Stewart Bradley injury: Broncos LB will have wrist surgery

The Broncos defense took another hit with the news Stewart Bradley will have wrist surgery.

Denver will be without starting middle linebacker Stewart Bradley for at least a few weeks as Bradley was forced to have wrist surgery, according to Mike Klis of the Denver Post.

Bradley injured his left wrist during Saturday's game against Seattle. The surgery will cause him to miss "several weeks" according to Klis and could land him on injured reserve depending on the timetable. He opened training camp in a battle with Nate Irving for the starting middle linebacker job and appeared to have won the starting position.

With Bradley out and Von Miller facing a suspension, the Broncos will have to shuffle their linebacker corps for at least the first few weeks of the season. According to Klis, Wesley Woodyard will replace Bradley in the middle, shifting from the weakside. Nickel linebacker Danny Trevathan will then become the starting weakside linebacker. The loss of Bradley will test the Broncos' depth, but Scotty Payne of Mile High Report likes the potential of Woodyard and Trevathan in their new roles:

I really like the idea of Woodyard in the Middle. Some might say that Woodyard may be too "small" to play inside, but John Fox had a similar sized guy in Jon Beason play inside for him for a few years. I love seeing Danny Trevathan in the starting lineup.

Bradley was one of a few key players injured during Saturday's game. Derek Wolfe, Louis Vasquez, Champ Bailey and Wes Welker all left the game with injuries.
