Steve Breaston and Patrick Crayton lasted less than a month with the New Orleans Saints, as both receivers were released on Monday, according to NFL Network's Ian Rapoport.

The New Orleans Saints have brought in a variety of receivers this offseason, but elected to cut two on Monday afternoon.

Breaston was signed on Aug. 5, and registered a single catch for four yards in one preseason game with the Saints. He was attempting to get his career back on track following a disastrous 2012 season in Kansas City where he managed just 74 yards. The 29-year-old wideout is an unrestricted free agent, but could wait until the end of preseason to land with a team.
It was a temporary stop in New Orleans for Breaston, but Patrick Crayton's stay was even shorter, lasting just a week. Signed on Aug. 12, he managed a single reception against the Oakland Raiders in preseason, and faces an uphill battle as the 34-year-old looks for a new team.
Monday's cuts likely mean that wide receivers Kenny Stills and Nick Toon have the edge on the team's third and fouth receiver jobs.
