Sebastian Janikowski signs 4-year contract extension with Raiders

Sebastian Janikowski will remain the league’s highest-paid kicker after signing a contract extension.

The Oakland Raiders have signed Sebastian Janikowski to a four-year contract extension, the team announced Friday afternoon. The deal will pay the kicker almost $19 million total, with $8 million guaranteed over the first two years, according to CSN California's Scott Bair.

Oakland selected Janikowski with the 17th overall pick in the 2000 NFL Draft and he has been a member of the Raiders ever since. The Poland native is entering his 14th season in the league and has played 204 games for the Raiders. He set the team's single-season franchise record for points with 142 in 2010, when he made 33-of-41 field goals and added 43 extra points. In 2012, he did not miss a kick inside of 49 yards.

The 35-year-old made $4.3 million in 2012 and was due $3.8 million in 2013, making him the league’s highest-paid kicker. He would have been a free agent after the 2013 season, but this contract will keep him in Oakland with his place as the NFL’s highest-paid kicker intact.
