Browns void trade for John Moffitt, Seahawks deal him to Denver instead

A day after being traded to Cleveland, John Moffitt is back on the move.

Geoff Burke-USA TODAY Sports

John Moffitt's career as a Cleveland Brown was over before it started. The Browns voided the trade that sent Moffitt to Cleveland one day after it was announced. Moffitt isn't headed back to Seattle. The Seahawks traded him to Denver instead, according to Jay Glazer of Fox Sports.

The Browns had some health concerns regarding Moffitt, which led to his rights temporarily going back to Seattle, according to Mary Kay Cabot of Cleveland.com. He missed time last season due to a knee injury, but it’s unknown what issue caused concerns for the Browns. Moffitt attended Browns practice on Tuesday and even came out onto the field in pads before head coach Rob Chudzinski escorted him back into the locker room, according to Cabot.

The Seahawks didn't waste much time, trading Moffitt to Denver for defensive tackle Sealver Siliga shortly after the deal with Cleveland was voided. Denver has had some issues at center during training camp and Moffitt has experience playing both guard and center. The 23-year-old Siliga spent the 2012 season on Denver's active roster, appearing in one game.

As Danny Kelly of Field Gulls noted, a return to Seattle may have been awkward for Moffitt after he insinuated he wasn’t given a legitimate shot at winning the starting right guard spot during a radio interview following the initial deal.

Sanford, who was also caught up in the situation, will return to the Browns after being a member of the Seahawks for roughly 24 hours.
