NFLPA responds to league’s claim union is ‘delaying’ HGH testing

Responding to claims by NFL executives that the NFL Players Association is trying to delay HGH testing, NFLPA Assistant Executive Director of External Affairs George Atallah said the league wanted nothing more than to win more power with the agreement.

The NFL claims that the union is showing "buyer's remorse" about a collective bargaining agreement signed in 2011. That agreement made commissioner Roger Goodell the lone overseer of player punishment and discipline. The union wants an independent third party to decide on all punishments for human growth hormone, which the league is against. Here is Atallah's response to the NFL's claims:

"The only case of buyer's remorse is the attached letter that the NFL agreed to weeks ago. Our signature is on it. Sign it, like you agreed to, and we start drawing blood from players immediately. Your refusal to sign it confirms that the only thing you care about is power."

The NFLPA want the NFL to immediately agree to HGH testing, provided an independent third party will handle punishment. It's the latest road block delaying regular testing in professional football.
