The New York Jets activated Santonio Holmes from the physically unable to perform list on Friday, according to Ian Rapoport of NFL Network.

Holmes’ 2012 season ended prematurely after the wide receiver suffered a Lisfranc injury in October. Holmes still might not be ready for the Jets’ season opener, but this is obviously a step in the right direction. He will be a crucial piece to New York’s passing attack this season.
Former Miami Dolphins cornerback Richard Marshall has signed a contract with the San Diego Chargers, according to a report. The Dolphins parted ways with Marshall after signing him to a three-year free agent contract last offseason. Marshall was limited by a back injury in 2012, so it remains to be seen if he can still play as a starter in 2013.
With Ahmad Bradshaw in Indianapolis, David Wilson and Andre Brown had been competing for the Giants' starting running back job. On Friday, general manager Jerry Reese told Colin Cowherd that Wilson will be the starter, but Brown has earned the right to get some carries, as well. Wilson, a first-round pick in the 2012 NFL Draft, burst onto the scene late last season but needs to protect the ball better to stay on coach Tom Coughlin's good side.
The San Diego Chargers signed Dwight Freeney to a two-year contract this season, and the team is hoping the 33-year-old can be an every-down player at linebacker. He wasn't too successful in that role with the Colts, but the Chargers need the help while Melvin Ingram recovers from a torn ACL. Chuck Pagano, Freeney's former coach, seems confident that Freeney can still play.
That's right. Ray Lewis, the former Baltimore Ravens linebacker, has released his first mixtape. Lewis was known for his motivational speeches, so it's not a huge shock to see him release some music. However, Lewis' mixtape is just over four minutes long and doesn't make a whole lot of sense. Go ahead, give it a listen.
