Jarvis Jones injury: Steelers LB hospitalized for chest evaluations

Jarvis Jones was hospitalized for a chest injury following his exit from Saturday’s preseason game against the Kansas City Chiefs.

Pittsburgh Steelers linebacker Jarvis Jones left Saturday's preseason game with an apparent chest injury, and was taken from the stadium to a Pittsburgh-area hospital, according to one of the team's PR people on Twitter, Burt Lauten.

Jones left the game in the second half after putting up two tackles. It’s unclear what the injury is specifically, as it’s only been described as a chest injury. Head coach Mike Tomlin only said that Jones is being examined for an upper body injury at this time. AP Sports writer Chris Adamski said that Jones was wheeled out of the stadium on a stretcher.

When Jones went down with the injury and was listed as questionable to return, many thought he might have just got the wind knocked out of him. If that were the case, he certainly wouldn’t be paying a visit to the hospital, unless the Steelers were being extra cautious.

Jones was Pittsburgh's first-round pick in the 2013 NFL Draft, being taken at No. 17 overall. He is in line to get major playing time this season if this injury doesn't force him out for any significant length of time.
