Chiefs vs. Steelers: Kansas City fans happy with first preseason win, lack of injuries

A win and no major injuries? That’s the best-case scenario in the preseason.

Charles LeClaire-USA TODAY Sport

The Kansas City Chiefs needed overtime but managed to beat the Steelers, 26-20, in the all-important third preseason game on their schedule. The Chiefs were 0-2 in preseason play before picking up a win on Saturday night.

More importantly, it appears the Chiefs avoided major injury again on Sunday, save for a few minor scares. Here’s the rundown from Arrowhead Pride, SB Nation’s Kansas City Chiefs blog.

It appears as if the Kansas City Chiefs have escaped serious injury once again. No knee or leg injuries were reported in Saturday’s Chiefs-Steelers game from the KC side. Several notable players did not participate for mostly minor reasons. The biggest news from the game is that Jamaal Charles, who had a foot strain, did play so he appears healthy.

The most notable injury during the game came to Jon Asamoah, the Chiefs starting guard who went down with a calf strain early on. “We’ll just see how he is in the morning,” Reid said. That seems minor but we really have no idea. We’ll talk to Reid later today to find out.

Tony Moeaki also went out during the game (I didn’t even realize he did) with a stinger, according to Reid (via kcchiefs.com). That should be minor as well.

The following players did not play at all: Dexter McCluster (ill), Quintin Demps(Ill), Dunta Robinson (shoulder), Travis Kelce (knee), Sanders Commings(shoulder).

The Chiefs close out the preseason at home on Thursday night against the Green Bay Packers.
