Vikings vs. 49ers 2013: San Fran ‘showcasing’ Colt McCoy
San Francisco beat Minnesota and looked very good in the process.

San Francisco was in complete control of the contest throughout, looking like a Super Bowl caliber team on both sides of the ball. One of the bigger headlines coming out of the game for the 49ers was the backup quarterback controversy.
Colt McCoy, who was brought in this offseason to backup Colin Kaepernick earlier this offseason, had been rumored as trade bait in the past few days. The former Texas Longhorns star played well against Minnesota, completing 11 of 15 passes for 109 yards, tossing one interception.
David Fucillo over at Niners Nation feels McCoy played pretty well, but didn’t seal the deal as Kaepernick’s understudy despite head coach Jim Harbaugh making many believe the issue has been settled.
Well, Colt McCoy got a whole lot of work, as the 49ers seemed intent on showcasing him. He finished 11 of 15 for 109 yards and one interception. He had his moments, including a touchdown drive on his last series, but he also struggled with inconsistency. Is it enough to keep him around or secure a trade? Who really knows.
San Francisco finishes up the preseason schedule with a game against the San Diego Chargers on Thursday.
