Jason Pierre-Paul activated off Giants PUP list

New York gets one of its best players back on the field with the return of Pierre-Paul to the active roster.

New York Giants defensive lineman Jason Pierre-Paul has been taken off the Physically Unable to Perform list, according to Ian Rapoport of the NFL Network.

Pierre-Paul has been out since last season due to a nagging back injury. The former South Florida star is back on the active roster now, though, in time for Week 4 of the exhibition schedule.

There's reportedly no chance that Pierre-Paul will be seen on Thursday in the preseason finale against the New England Patriots, but he could potentially play Week 1 against the Dallas Cowboys. Pierre-Paul was one of the best players in the league back in 2011, amassing 16.5 sacks to make his first career Pro Bowl.

Pierre-Paul wasn’t nearly as effective last year, however, when the 24-year-old only came up with 6.5 sacks. That was still the top total on the Giant,s but not nearly as many as some had expected.
