Arizona Cardinals running back Rashard Mendenhall is dealing with a sprained knee, but the team believes it's only a minor sprain. He will miss Thursday's final preseason game but is expected to be ready for the regular season.
Rashard Mendenhall injury: Cardinals RB will be ready for season opener
Rashard Mendenhall will miss Thursday’s preseason finale with a knee sprain, but he’s expected to be ready for the regular season opener.

Mendenhall left Saturday’s game with the injury and coach Bruce Arians said that he felt “looseness” in his knee. He also missed time in training camp with knee tendinitis. It’s the same knee on which Mendenhall tore his ACL at the end of the 2011 season. Mendenhall played in only six games last season, rushing for 182 yards on 51 carries.
Ryan Williams is expected to start Thursday's game. Another running back with injury concerns, Williams missed most of training camp with a sore knee. He played just five games in two seasons, tearing his patellar tendon in 2011 and injuring his shoulder last year. Jason La Canfora reported that the Cardinals put him on the trade block, suggesting that his preseason start will be an audition for other teams.
