DuJuan Harris injury: Packers RB placed on injured reserve

DuJuan Harris’ second opinion on his knee was not positive and the Packers placed him on injured reserve, ending his season.

Jeff Hanisch-USA TODAY Sports

The Green Bay Packers have placed running back DuJuan Harris on season-ending injured reserve, per NFL Network's Ian Rapoport. Coach Mike McCarthy announced the move after Harris received a second opinion on his knee.

Harris injured his knee in last week's preseason game against the Seattle Seahawks. It's the same knee he injured earlier in training camp, costing him two preseason games. He was expected to serve as a change-of-pace back this year. Harris appeared in just four games last season, recording 157 rushing yards and two touchdowns.

With Harris out, rookie Eddie Lacy now projects to be the full-time starter. Lacy rushed for 35 yards on 16 carries in two preseason games. Alex Green, Johnathan Franklin and James Starks are the other running backs on the depth chart. Franklin had a rough preseason performance and will likely open the season behind Green as the new change-of-pace guy.
