NFL roster cuts 2013: injuries allow Panthers to get to 75-man limit

Jonathan Stewart was placed on the PUP list to help get the Panthers down to Tuesday’s roster deadline.

Jeremy Brevard-USA TODAY Sports

The Carolina Panthers were four players over the 75-man roster limit before Tuesday's deadline. The team didn't have to cut anyone to get down to the limit, however, as four injury-related moves allowed Carolina to get down to 75 players.

Jonathan Stewart was the major move, as the former starting running back was placed on the physically unable to perform list due to his ailing ankle. Stewart won’t be eligible to play during the first six weeks of the regular season.

Offensive lineman Edmund Kugbila, the team's fourth-round pick, will miss his entire rookie season after being placed on the injured reserve list with knee and hamstring issues.

The Panthers' remaining two moves included a pair of players being waived/injured. Wide receiver Joe Adams and defensive tackle Frank Kearse were both given that designation, meaning they'll be eligible to be placed back on Carolina's injured reserve list if they clear waivers.
