NFL roster cuts 2013: Steelers make 15 moves to get to 75-man limit

The Pittsburgh Steelers made 15 moves to get down to the 75-man limit prior to Tuesday’s deadline.

Brad Mills-USA TODAY Sports

The Pittsburgh Steelers were already at 75 players when Tuesday came around and most of the league was making moves to beat the deadline. The team got to making their moves on Sunday, and there were 15 of them in total, as noted by the team website.

Multiple players were released, including offensive tackles Mike Farrell and D'Anthony Batiste, running backs Jeremy Wright and Baron Batch, wide receivers David Gilreath, Tyler Shaw and J.D. Woods, tight end Peter Tuitupou, linebacker Stevenson Sylvester, cornerback Ryan Steed and quarterback John Parker Wilson.

In addition to those releases, the team placed linebacker Sean Spence on the physically unable to perform list, meaning he will be eligible to return to action after the sixth week of the regular season. Guard Justin Cheadle and cornerback DeMarcus Van Dyke were also waived/injured by the team.

Pittsburgh was ahead of the curve, but they still have 22 cuts to make in the near future, as the Saturday deadline to get down to 53 players in advance of the regular season is quickly approaching.
