Matt Simms will start for the New York Jets in their preseason finale against the Philadelphia Eagles on Thursday night, according to the New York Post's Brian Costello.
Jets rumors: Matt Simms named starting quarterback for preseason finale
New York will be starting its third quarterback of the preseason against the Eagles.

Simms played in the Snoopy Bowl versus the New York Giants and led the Jets to an all-important 24-21 overtime win in the final minutes, completing six of his 10 passes for 120 yards and a touchdown. He entered the game after Mark Sanchez was injured on a hit by Marvin Austin during the fourth quarter.
Simms is the third quarterback to start in a preseason game this year for the Jets. Sanchez started the first two contests before head coach Rex Ryan gave Geno Smith an opportunity to take the starting job in the Giants game. Smith bombed, however, tossing three interceptions and running through the back of the end zone for a safety in the fourth quarter.
The quarterback situation has been up in the air throughout the summer, with no clear favorite established. Smith and Sanchez have both had first-team reps, but neither has been overly impressive. Simms and Greg McElroy are currently fighting for the third spot on the depth chart.
