Brandon Marshall gets 4-day absence from Bears

Brandon Marshall has been excused from the Bears for four days. Coach Marc Trestman says his absence was approved and pre-planned for personal reasons.

Chicago Bears wide receiver Brandon Marshall has been excused from the team for four days. Head coach Marc Trestman says his absence is for "personal reasons" and that the team planned to have him out in advance. From the Chicago Tribune:

“This was a planned-out miss today for personal reasons,” Trestman said. “I let him go for personal reasons. But something that has been part of the offseason plan since started training camp.”

Trestman would not confirm that the absence is related to Marshall’s hip, which he complained about on Tuesday. Marshall had offseason surgery on his hip in January and missed some time in spring workouts, but he’s been a full participant in most of training camp and preseason.

There is no indication that Marshall will miss the Bears’ Week 1 opener on September 8. He is Jay Cutler’s favorite target and a vital cog in Chicago’s offense, hauling in 118 catches for 1,508 yards and 11 touchdowns last season.
