Robert Griffin III will reportedly start the team's regular season opener against the Philadelphia Eagles on Monday Night Football on Sept. 9. Griffin is recovering from an ACL injury sustained last season and hasn't played in any preseason games. He has been practicing against the defense for more than a week now and has been adamant that he feels 100 percent. It's certainly a huge boost for the Redskins if Griffin is ready to go from the start.

Linebacker Aaron Curry announced his retirement from the NFL on Wednesday.Curry was drafted by the Seattle Seahawks and was considered one of the safest picks at the top-end of the draft in years. He eventually went to the Oakland Raiders, and then the New York Giants, but ultimately couldn't put anything together. He never seemed to have a grasp on the game at the next level.
The San Francisco 49ers named rookie first-round pick Eric Reid their starting free safety. The 49ers moved up to draft Reid in the first round as they needed a replacement for Pro Bowler Dashon Goldson, who departed for the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in free agency. Reid has played well in the preseason and impressed in practice, so he'll be starting alongside Donte Whitner against the Green Bay Packers in Week 1.
Seattle Seahawks wide receiver Sidney Rice is expected to be ready for the start of the regular season. Rice is dealing with a knee injury and has missed preseason action and practice. Getting him back is important for the Seahawks, given that Percy Harvin is set to miss time with a hip injury. Without Rice, the team essentially has Golden Tate and Zach Miller, and not much else.
Chicago Bears wide receiver Earl Bennett could be on the trading block. He is currently battling a concussion since taking a big hit in training camp on Aug. 2. Bennett has been productive in Chicago, but the team might be looking to move on with Brandon Marshall and Alshon Jeffery.
