Raiders’ QB Tyler Wilson will play vs. Seahawks

Balancing precariously on the edge of the Raiders’ 53-man roster, Wilson will get one last shot to earn his keep on Thursday night.

Having gone missing for the past two exhibition games, Oakland Raiders rookie quarterback Tyler Wilson will finally resurface on Thursday night. In an effort to determine whether to keep the young signal caller on the roster or not, the coaching staff intends to play him against the Seattle Seahawks during the team's preseason finale, according to a report from the San Francisco Chronicle.

The Raiders' fourth-round selection in the 2013 NFL draft has struggled mightily in his first training camp and has plummeted to fourth on the depth chart. Once a dark horse Heisman Trophy candidate at Arkansas, Wilson has not even made it onto the field during the Raiders last two preseason games. He went just 3-of-6 for 28 yards in his only action against the Dallas Cowboys.

With the team soon to face a decision between Wilson or undrafted free agent Matt McGloin, head coach Dennis Allen will be looking to get a final look at the pair of rookies on Thursday. McGloin, who has earned 37 snaps over the last two games compared to Wilson's zero, has been splitting third-team reps with Wilson during practice this week.

Allen has said that his rookie quarterback is having trouble with the mental aspect of the position. If Wilson can’t get his head right against the Seahawks, he may well find himself out of a job.
