Quentin Jammer on Broncos’ roster bubble

Once a starter, Jammer is now trying to stay in the NFL with Denver as a backup.

Ron Chenoy-USA TODAY Sports

Quentin Jammer was once one of the better cornerbacks in the NFL for the San Diego Chargers. Now, he's a bubble player fighting for his career on the Denver Broncos, according to Mike Klis.

Jammer is trying to stay a member of the AFC West defending champion on Thursday night in the fourth preseason game against the Arizona Cardinals. For Jammer, it's the first time in his 12-year career that he'll be playing in the final exhibition game, usually reserved for men not expected to have a job a few days later. Per the piece:

“This will be my first,” Jammer said. “I’m looking forward to going out and trying to get better.”

Denver has plenty of corners with either more upside or a better track record, including Dominique Rodgers-Cromartie, Champ Bailey, Chris Harris and others. Jammer has also been worked at safety, although that's been a process that was anything but smooth at first. Per the Denver Post:

“At safety, there were some little things I couldn’t get,” Jammer said. “Then when I went back to corner, now you understand. Some of the calls I was not familiar with at safety, but when I went back to corner, it connected. Now if I go back to safety, I’m complete. I know everything.”

The Broncos have to make a decision by August 31, the final day of cutdowns to get rosters to 53 players.
