Seahawks games will have undercover cop patrols

In light of some recent fan altercations at the stadium, undercover Seattle police officers will be watching the crowds at Seahawks games this season.

Geoff Burke-USA TODAY Sports

The Seattle Police Department announced that it will be sending undercover officers to Seahawks games this season to keep an eye on the fans. Police received a number of complaints last year regarding fan violence, including an incident involving two off-duty police officers.

Those officers were the ones doing the misbehaving. Two off-duty Bellevue police officers were escorted off of the premises after using profane language against a uniformed officer and stadium workers. That is the type of behavior the Seattle Police Department will be trying to prevent by sending officers to games dressed just like any other fan, beginning with Thursday's game against the Oakland Raiders.

Anybody seen “taking team rivalries too far” with threats and other intimidating measures will be arrested, if necessary.

San Francisco Giants fan Brian Stow just returned home in June after two years in a hospital following a brutal beating at Dodgers Stadium. The Seahawks don’t want any similar incidents to occur at CenturyLink Field.
