Chris Harper may not be long for the Seattle Seahawks roster. The fourth-round draft pick out of Kansas State may be cut when the Seahawks pare their roster down to 53 players by Saturday's deadline, according to the Seattle Times, despite what the Times calls "long-range potential."

Seahawks blog Field Gulls has Harper as one of six receivers making the 53-man roster, despite his inability to separate himself during training camp. Middle round draft picks tend to make it past final cuts coming out of preseason. The Seahawks are relatively deep at wide receiver, however. The Times currently projects Sidney Rice, Doug Baldwin, Golden Tate, Jermaine Kearse and Stephen Williams to make the final roster. Percy Harvin is also expected to join the corps if/when he comes off the physically unable to perform list later this season.
If Harper is cut and clears waivers, he stands a good chance of being signed to the Seahawks’ practice squad, where he can gain experience before trying out for the team in 2014, or bide his time in case the team needs to call him up to the active roster midseason.
Harper has impressive athleticism considering his 6’1, 234-pound frame. He was a strong, tough blocker during his senior season with the Wildcats, as well. He put up solid numbers as a pass catcher, catching 58 passes for 857 yards and three touchdowns, but has seemingly failed to distinguish himself this offseason.
