Jason Hill works out for Bears

The Bears brought in the veteran wide receiver earlier this week.

With Brandon Marshall's hip still giving him trouble and general manager Phil Emery still looking to bolster the wide receiver corps, the Chicago Bears worked out free agent Jason Hill earlier this week, according to National Football Post's Aaron Wilson.

The Bears have not signed Hill yet, but looking around for other receivers would be a good move. Although Marshall is a clear and established star, the team is short on other dependable pass-catchers right now, outside of a serviceable Earl Bennett and second-year wideout Alshon Jeffery. Jeffery is a potential breakout candidate and could be key to an improved Jay Cutler this season.

Besides those three, the rest of the receivers on Chicago's roster -- Joe Anderson, Brittan Golden, Josh Lenz, Terrence Toliver, Eric Weems and Marquess Wilson -- have recorded a total of 26 career catches among them, all belonging to Weems. With 78 career receptions, Hill surpasses that total on his own. A sixth-year veteran, Hill spent most of last season with the New York Jets, appearing in three games and recording two receptions, before being waived in late November.
