Seahawks roster bubble 2013: Brady Quinn, Spencer Ware on outside looking in

Brady Quinn and Spencer Ware may not be long for the Seahawks roster, according to the Seattle Times.

Kirby Lee-USA TODAY Sports

The Seattle Seahawks are gearing up for roster cuts, and may soon be letting go of two well-known names--quarterback Brady Quinn and running back Spencer Ware--according to the Seattle Times. The paper projects both players to be left on the cutting room floor when the Seahawks submit their final roster at Saturday's deadline.

If the Seahawks release Quinn, they will roll into the season with just Russell Wilson and Tarvaris Jackson at quarterback. Teams occasionally keep three quarterbacks, and league-wide Quinn may be one of the better No. 3 QBs in the league, for whatever that's worth. That said, keeping Quinn could be considered a luxury at a time when the team needs depth elsewhere.

The Times makes the same argument for Ware. Some NFL teams keep just one fullback on the roster going into the regular season, and the Seahawks currently have three: Marcus Robinson, Derrick Coleman and Ware. Chances are that the Seahawks could place Ware on waivers and sign him back to the practice squad, putting him in good position to rejoin the active roster in case of injuries.
