The New York Jets won an ugly preseason finale, 27-20, over the Philadelphia Eagles on Thursday night.
Eagles vs. Jets 2013 final score: Matt Simms shines in preseason finale
Matt Simms had a big performance for the Jets on Thursday night, leading his team to a 27-20 win over the Eagles. Maybe he can start Week 1?

Quarterback Matt Simms turned in a fine performance under center despite constant harassment in the backfield, completing 33-of-44 pass attempts for 285 yards to power the victory. He did get sacked seven times, all in the first half, but I suppose we can't expect a Jets QB to be perfect.
Nick Foles struggled badly as the starting quarterback for Philly, completing 6-of-17 passes for 63 yards. The Eagles managed just five points by halftime, helped by a safety on Simms.
Both team kicked up the offensive fireworks in the second half. Matt Barkley took over under center for the Eagles and performed moderately better than Foles, going 13-for-27 passing for 134 yards and leading the offense on a 16-play, 80-yard touchdown drive in the third quarter to tie the game. Unfortunately, he also had an interception returned for a touchdown in the fourth quarter.
Simms took over after the Eagles' first touchdown and led an even more impressive drive, going 80 yards in 19 plays over 10-plus minutes for the touchdown. Kahlil Bell punched in the game-winning score from two yards out. It was second touchdown of the night.
Injury report
Eagles cornerback Trevard Lindley was carted into the locker room with an ankle sprain. Otherwise, both teams managed to stay relatively healthy.
Did they cover?
The Eagles were 4.5-point favorites at kickoff, so it’s safe to say they failed to cover.
