Browns vs. Bears 2013 results: Cleveland wins 18-16 after 4th quarter rally

The Browns edged out the Bears by just two points in a preseason finale dominated by kickers.

Rob Grabowski-USA TODAY Sports

The Cleveland Browns scored 10 points in the final four minutes of Thursday's game against the Chicago Bears to pull out an 18-16 win in their preseason finale. Kicking in place of an injured Shayne Graham, Spencer Lanning booted a 40-yard field goal with 3:15 remaining to provide the winning points.

Robbie Gould booted three field goals of his own, including a 52-yarder in the first quarter. Unfortunately, the Bears could only convert one touchdown. The offense had a golden opportunity to put the ball in the end zone in the third quarter after reaching the Browns' 4-yard line on a 10-play, 72-yard drive. The offense stalled, however, and the Bears settled for a 21-yard field goal.

Trent Edwards and Jordan Palmer were relatively quiet on the night for the Bears. Edwards went 6-for-11 passing for 95 yards and an interception. Palmer threw the team's only touchdown, a five-yard pass to Joe Anderson, but was otherwise pedestrian, going 11-for-17 for 111 yards.

Brian Hoyer played the entire game for the Browns, finishing 24-for-35 for 307 yards, one touchdown and two interceptions. He hooked up with Josh Gordon twice, including on a 45-yard bomb on the first play from scrimmage. Gordon led the Browns in receiving with 77 yards on two catches.

Injury report

Browns kicker Shayne Graham suffered a back injury and did not return to the game. The Bears seem to have escaped the game relatively healthy.

Did they cover?

Depending on the sports book, the Browns may or may not have covered. Those who bought in with the Browns favored by 1.5 points or less were winners. Those who bought in with the Browns favored by two got their money back.
