We’ll see if Jacksonville can carry things over to the regular season after ending Thursday’s game on a high note.

The Jacksonville Jaguars capped off their 2013 preseason on a winning note, sealing a 20-16 victory over the Atlanta Falcons in the final meaningless game of the year. The Jaguars were able to win without starting quarterback Blaine Gabbert or running back Maurice Jones-Drew.

Both teams leaned on their backups as the Jaguars used three quarterbacks to allow their coaching staff to watch some in-game reps prior to final cuts. Nobody was particularly successful, but Mike Kafka was the best of the bunch as he finished with 46 yards passing and a touchdown. Running back Jordan Todman made a huge impact, finishing with 60 yards on nine carries, including a touchdown.

Dominique Davis of the Falcons locked up the backup role with a solid game, finishing 18-for-32 with 175 yards and an interception. Resting Matt Ryan was the right move as the Falcons had nothing to gain in the final preseason game. Their offensive standout was running back Josh Vaughan, who finished with 83 yards and a touchdown on just five carries.

Did they cover?

The Jaguars were 2.5 point favorites, according to OddsShark. Their four-point victory means they covered the spread.
