The Pittsburgh Steelers and Carolina Panthers held their yearly preseason game, and the battle of backups was won by the Carolina Panthers, 25-10.

Thursday’s game was an appropriately sloppy end to preseason that saw a lack of discipline and defense. It was the perfect night for a Derek Anderson fan, as the Panthers’ backup quarterback finished with 220 yards and two touchdowns. The offensive standout for Carolina was Ted Ginn, who showcased his speed and paired well with Anderson. Ginn cemented his spot at the Panthers’ third receiver with 149 total yards and two touchdowns.

The Steelers' depth struggled to move the ball effectively, which could be construed as a problem if Pittsburgh are forced to deal with injuries this year. Quarterback Landry Jones had some flashes but his three interceptions showed that he needs more time to learn inside an NFL offense. Newly acquired running back Felix Jones had moderate success, but largely struggled to break through the Panthers' defensive front, finishing with 56 yards on 14 carries.

Jimmy Clausen’s career in Carolina could be over after being drafted in 2010. Thursday was his last chance to make a stamp on the front office and finished with an unimpressive 26 yards on eight passes.

Injury Report

D.J. Campbell left the game in the second quarter with a leg injury. Carolina doesn't have a lot of depth a safety and this could be a problem moving forward depending on the injury's severity.
