Emmanuel Lamur injury: Bengals LB carted off the field

Lamur was projected to start for the Bengals at linebacker in the nickel set.

Kirby Lee-USA TODAY Sports

Cincinnati Bengals linebacker Emmanuel Lamur appeared to injure his shoulder in Thursday night's preseason game against the Indianapolis Colts and had to be carted off the field.

The injury took place in the first quarter. The Colts, facing third-and-11, chose to run a short screen play to Donald Brown, which only went for two yards. Lamur tackled Brown on the play, and seemed to bang his shoulder fairly significantly. The Bengals quickly ruled Lamur out for the remainder of the game.

A long-term loss of Lamur would be tough for the Bengals defense. The second-year player was projected to play linebacker for Cincinnati in its nickel defense, alongside Vontaze Burfict.

Lamur played safety for Kansas State but signed with the Bengals as an undrafted free-agent last season. He quickly impressed with his combination of size and speed; he stands 6’4, weights 241 pounds and can run a 4.5 second 40-yard dash, according to Geoff Hobson of Bengals.com.
