Arizona Cardinals nose tackle Dan Williams suffered a sprained knee and ankle in practice on Thursday, but an MRI revealed no structural damage and he will not require surgery. Head coach Bruce Arians believes he will be ready in time for the regular season opener.
Dan Williams injury: Cardinals DT does not require surgery on knee
Dan Williams has a sprained knee and ankle, but he won’t require surgery and should be ready for the regular season.

Williams suffered the injury during tackling drills, collapsing to the field when players rolled into the back of his legs. The ankle sprain is potentially a more concerning issue than the sprained MCL, but Williams isn’t expected to miss more than a few days of practice.
A rotational defensive lineman for most of his three-year career with the Cardinals, Williams mostly plays on running downs, recording 44 tackles last season. He showed up to camp around 10 pounds lighter and Arians praised his training camp performance, saying that he has “been playing at a Pro Bowl level”.
Backup David Carter will take most of Williams' practice reps while he's sidelined, although Arians said linebacker/defensive end Matt Shaughnessy will also practice at tackle.
