Titans vs. Vikings 2013 final score: Minnesota wins 24-23 in Week 4 thriller

The Minnesota Vikings' 24-23 win over the Tennessee Titans on Thursday night was about as thrilling as fans could hope for from a preseason finale. The two teams traded scores throughout the game, with Blair Walsh's 25-yard field goal with 2:17 remaining ultimately proving to be the clincher.

The offenses racked up a combined 759 yards during the game. The Titans actually risked putting Jake Locker in for their opening drive. He responded by going 3-for-5 passing for 35 yards in leading the Titans to a field goal on a 70-yard drive that took 8:59 off the clock.

The Vikings responded with Matt Cassel at the helm. He went 3-for-3 passing for 48 yards to lead the Vikings to a touchdown on a drive that lasted 6:04 and covered 80 yards. Matt Asiata punched the ball in from one yard out for the score.

Both offenses alternated long touchdown drives to close out the first half. At halftime, the Titans led 17-14, with a Rusty Smith touchdown pass to tight end Jack Doyle giving the team the lead with 2:03 remaining until intermission.

The Vikings quickly turned the tables, as Marcus Sherels returned the opening kickoff of the second half 109 yards for a touchdown. The Titans took the lead back on a pair of Rob Bironas field goals. McLeod Bethel-Thompson got the last laugh, however, going 3-for-3 passing on the Vikings' game-winning drive to help put his team in field goal range. He finished 19-for-26 passing for 187 yards, one touchdown and one interception after taking over for Cassel.

Unfortunately, the Vikings caught the blunt end of the injury stick. Defensive end D'Aundre Reed and cornerback Bobby Felder both suffered sprained ankles. Offensive guard Seth Olsen suffered a scary neck injury.
