Kevin Kolb injury: Bills QB placed on injured reserve, per report

The move will end Kolb’s season as he recovers from a concussion suffered last week.

The Buffalo Bills have placed Kevin Kolb on season-ending injured reserve with a concussion, according to a report by WGR 550’s Joe Buscaglia.

The 29-year-old Kolb suffered a serious concussion last week against the Redskins, which knocked him out of the game. It was the third one of his career; he missed several games in Philadelphia and Arizona due to similar injuries.

Although Kolb has not come out and confirmed his retirement, doctors have feared that this latest head injury could end his career.

Kolb signed a two-year, $6.1 million dollar contract earlier this offseason and had been competing with rookie E.J. Manuel for the starting quarterback job. With Kolb now out for the season and Manuel still dealing with a knee injury, the Bills will likely turn to undrafted free agent Jeff Tuel against the Patriots to start the season. Buffalo also released veteran QB Matt Leinart earlier on Friday.
