NFL roster cuts 2013: Tony Moeaki among 22 waived by Chiefs

The Kansas City Chiefs released 22 players to make it to the 53-man limit on Saturday.

John Rieger-USA TODAY Sports

The Kansas City Chiefs made 22 roster moves on Saturday to make it down to the 53-man limit, according to Arrowhead Pride. Two players were waived/injured while 20 players were outright released in the last wave of roster cuts.

Tight end Tony Moeaki was the biggest name on Saturday, and was among those waived/injured alongside offensive lineman Ricky Henry. Moeaki and Henry will likely make it through waivers unclaimed, and will be placed on season-ending injured reserve for the Chiefs.

The full list of players officially released are below:

Offensive linemen Steven Baker, Tommie Draheim, Matt Reynolds and Rokevious Watkins, linebackers Ridge Wilson, Orie Lemon, and Darin Drakeford, defensive linemen Marcus Dixon and Austen Lane, wide receivers Rico Richardson, Josh Bellamy and Frankie Hammond, tight end Demetrius Harris, fullback Toben Opurum and defensive backs Malcolm Bronson, Greg Castillo, Kennard Cox, Tysyn Hartman and Semaj Moody.

Moeaki was a third-round pick in 2010 and was expected to be a contributor, but he fractured his shoulder recently and will likely make it to injured reserve. Other than that, there aren’t really any big names here, though some players like Hartman and Dixon were thought to be pretty safe bets to make the roster by some.
