Green Bay Packers running back Eddie Lacy was the standout player at the team's annual Family Night scrimmage on Saturday night. Lacy rushed eight times for 65 yards, good for 8.1 yards per carry.

James Starks was the nominal starter in the scrimmage and did well, but the rookie stole his thunder. Lacy took the field with the first-team offensive line and picked up right where he left off in January, when he bulldozed the Notre Dame defense in the BCS Championship Game.

A second-round pick out of Alabama, Lacy spent the first week of camp mostly working in short-yardage “thud” situations, but in his first real game action in months, he reminded people why he was an every-down back with the Crimson Tide.

When Lacy left the game, fellow rookie Johnathan Franklin got his reps in, followed by Alex Green. Although Lacy may have been the most impressive back Saturday, the Packers' backfield situation is far from settled. The pecking order should start to clear up when they start preseason on Friday.
