Vincent Brown injury: Chargers WR misses sixth straight practice with hamstring injury

Vincent Brown missed his sixth day of practice with a nagging hamstring injury. He’s not likely to play in the preseason opener.

San Diego Chargers wide receiver Vincent Brown missed practice for the sixth day in a row with a hamstring injury, according to the Union-Tribune. His running has been improving, but not enough to get back on the practice field Sunday.

Brown started training camp healthy after a broken ankle wiped out his 2012 season, but suffered the hamstring injury a week ago and hasn't been able to practice since. He is unlikely to be ready in time for the first preseason game against the Seattle Seahawks on Thursday.

Brown was thought to be pushing Malcom Floyd for the No. 2 wideout position alongside Danario Alexander, but this latest injury is putting those plans on hold. He should be ready to go for the regular season, but hamstring injuries are tricky and can linger for weeks on end. Floyd will keep the starting job for now, with Eddie Royal and rookie Keenan Allen competing for playing time in the slot.
