Jets RB Joe McKnight arrested for unpaid tickets

Joe McKnight was arrested after an officer found two outstanding warrants for failure to pay previous tickets.

Rich Barnes-USA TODAY Sports

New York Jets running back Joe McKnight was arrested last week in Hanover Township after police found two outstanding warrants for unpaid tickets, according to Brian Costello of the New York Post. After he was handcuffed and brought to the police station, McKnight was released on bail.

McKnight, 25, was pulled over on July 30 after an unsafe lane change, but when Patrolman David Littman ran his license plate, he discovered outstanding warrants for failure to pay for a $200 fine, for failing to produce an insurance card, and a $120 fine for failing to observe a traffic signal. McKnight paid $320 bail and was issued a summons for an unsafe lane change and uninsured motor vehicle.

A fourth-round pick in the 2010 NFL Draft, McKnight has primarily served as a kick return specialist during his time with the Jets. In three seasons with the team, he has just 112 rushing attempts for 502 yards as well as 17 receptions for 177 yards. He finished with more than 1,000 kick return yards in each of the last two seasons, including a return touchdown in both years.

McKnight has been participating in training camp after he was removed from the physically unable to perform (PUP) list in July, but suffered a head injury in practice on Friday. The Jets are scheduled to begin their preseason on Friday against the Detroit Lions.
