Despite being out of the NFL last season, Vince Young said he continued to work out with the hopes of getting another shot and now that he has, he's ready to take advantage of it. A day after signing with the Packers, Young said he is more mature and learned from his experiences.

Vince Yong said a year away from the NFL helped him and he’s happy about the opportunity he got with the Packers.

“Maturing,” Young said, according to the Journal Sentinel. “That’s the biggest thing. Back in the day, I was a young Vince. Now, I’m more mature and definitely learned from things that happened in the past. I’m married now, a grown man, 30 years old. I’m kind of like the old head in this locker room.”
Young spent much of his time away at the University of Texas, where he starred in college. He continued to train and even worked out at Texas’ pro day in March. Young said he was happy about the opportunity with Green Bay and the ability to finish his career, “how I want it to be.”
He's not a lock to make Green Bay's 53-man roster and is competing with Graham Harrell and B.J. Coleman for a roster spot behind Aaron Rodgers. He's less familiar with the offense than Coleman and Harrell and will have to learn quickly if he's going to make the roster. In the meantime, Young is welcoming a leadership role with the Packers and said he is going to continue to work hard and stay ready.
