C.J. Spiller will get the ball ‘until he throws up’, according to Bills’ OC

The explosive young running back will receive an expanded role in the Bills offense this season.

The Buffalo Bills will use C.J. Spiller in much more of a feature role than in 2012, according to rookie offensive coordinator Nathaniel Hackett. Appearing on "The Howard Simon Show" on Wednesday, Hackett made it known that the third-year back will be most certainly become the focal point of the Bills offense.

“It’s real simple,” Hackett said. “We’re going to give him the ball until he throws up. So he’s either got to tap out or throw up on the field. Let’s just put it that way.”

Under head coach Chan Gailey the Bills used Spiller sparingly, frustrating fans that the most talented player on the team wasn’t receiving more touches. Spiller averaged just 12.9 carries per game in 2012 yet finished with 1,244 yards and six touchdowns on just 207 carries on the season.

Hackett added that with the added weapons the Bills have on the outside, teams will be wary to stack the box in an attempt to stop the explosive Spiller. To go along with adding veteran receiver Antoine Caldwell, the Bills are expected to start rookie quarterback EJ Manuel in an attempt to improve an offense that ranked 25th in the NFL last season through the air.
