The Detroit Lions and New York Jets kick off their 2013 preseason schedules on Friday night in Detroit, and both teams are surely looking to improve on sourly disappointing 2012 seasons. The Lions went into 2012 with a lot of promise, but it fell apart early and the team bottomed out at 4-12. The Jets, meanwhile, were a well-publicized circus, and in retrospect, their 6-10 record looks better than you probably remember.
Jets vs. Lions 2013: How to watch online, TV schedule, radio and more
The Lions and Jets would like to quickly turn the page on 2012. Here’s how you can watch them get started on 2013.
The Jets no longer have to deal with Tim Tebow, but there's still a hotly contested quarterback race between Mark Sanchez and 2013 draft pick Geno Smith. It's tough to depend on a rookie quarterback to produce much, but that's exactly what New York may be forced to do this year.
The Lions' quarterback situation is settled with Matthew Stafford, but it's the running game that needs to improve. Mikel Leshoure looks like he's a keeper, but it usually takes more than one dependable rusher to be successful.
