Rodger Saffold injury: Rams RT dislocates shoulder, will miss a few games

Saffold, who has missed 13 games the last two seasons, has another injury that will cause him to miss time.

USA TODAY Sports

The Rams are down an offensive lineman after Thursday night's preseason game. Jeff Fisher said Friday that right tackle Rodger Saffold dislocated his shoulder and will miss a few games, according to Jim Thomas of the St. Louis Post-Dispatch.

Saffold was playing right tackle for the first time on Thursday after St. Louis signed Jake Long to play left tackle in free agency. Saffold has missed 13 games combined with various injuries over the last two seasons.

Saffold has been a serviceable player when healthy after being selected in the second round of the 2010 NFL Draft. Joseph Barksdale is next on the depth chart and will fill in during Saffold's absence, but Fisher did not seem concerned about Saffold missing any regular season time.

The Rams finish their preseason schedule with the Packers, Broncos and Ravens. They lost to the Browns in the preseason opener.
